The University is located in the industrial city of Lae, the second largest city in Papua New Guinea. The University is the only technological university in the Pacific. Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Veterinary Science
The position seeks highly motivated and experienced Associate Professor/Professor in Veterinary Medicine to join and contribute effectively to teaching, research, and clinical service. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership in veterinary science, with responsibilities including teaching, research, clinical practice, and community engagement. Areas of specialization may include animal health, disease control, epidemiology, or clinical veterinary practice.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver high-quality teaching in veterinary medicine and related disciplines;
- lead and conduct impactful research in animal health and production systems;
- supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students; provide clinical services and support veterinary training programs;
- develop and secure research funding and partnerships; engage with government, industry, and farming communities.
Qualification & Experience
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent, and PhD in the area of specialization;
- strong academic and research record with publications in reputable journals;
- extensive teaching and clinical experience; professional veterinary registration or eligibility demonstrated leadership in academia and/or veterinary services.
- The candidate is expected to provide veterinary education and research and strong engagement with livestock industries and rural communities.
- Areas of interest includes livestock health and production, tropical veterinary medicine, epidemiology and disease surveillance, veterinary public health and food safety,
- and ability to have access / create research facilities and forge collaborative networks, and create strong engagement with livestock industries and rural communities.
Conditions of Service
Associate Professor
- Base Salary Ranger: K78, 441- K95, 873 per annum.
- DMA Range: K31, 296 – K55, 272 (DMA = Domestic Market Allowance)
- IMA Range: K96, 481- K123, 870 (IMA = International Market Allowance)
Senior Lecturer
- Base Salary Ranger: K66, 060 – K80, 740 per annum.
- DMA Range: K22, 683 – K40, 199 (DMA = Domestic Market Allowance)
- IMA Range: K88, 058 – K107, 159 (IMA = International Market Allowance)
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
