Our Hiring and Onboarding Process

Step 1: Application Submission

Before Applying Checklist

  • Signed cover letter
  • Completed resume containing relevant professional experiences
  • Attached particulars of referees who can be contacted on your behalf
  • Certified academic transcripts and certificates
  • Separate publication form (For Academic Positions Only)

Step 2: Screening Process

Reviewing of Application

To eliminate any element of bias in our recruitment process, all applications are subjected to screening by a separate selection committee, made up of experts in the relevant profession.

Shortlisting criteria

Only those who meet or exceed our selection criteria are shortlisted.

Step 3: Interview Process

Invitation process for shortlisted candidates

The shortlisted candidates are informed of the decision and invited for an interview. Interviews are either online or face-to-face. Candidates are informed in advance to prepare for either of these alternatives.

Preparation guidelines for candidates

Interview questions are formulated around the position requirements. Candidates are urged to pay particular attention to details of the advertisement during the application process.

Step 4: Reference Check

Requirement for at least three professional references

Referees must be from current or previous employments. Candidates must ensure the contact details of each referee are updated.

Process for contacting references to validate candidates' backgrounds

Referees are emailed a set of questions to respond to, giving specific information about the candidate and their suitability for the position.

Step 5: Offer

Formal job offer process

All the information gathered about a particular candidate, including the interview report, is submitted to the University Staffing Committee, who give the final approval or rejection. The approved candidate is then given the offer. The offer letter/contract contains information about the position, the lines of report, salary and other benefits relevant to the position. Successful candidates are expected to read, sign and respond to the offer within a space of two weeks after which the offer can be withdrawn.

Onboarding process for accepted candidates

Those who accepted the offer are advised of the onboarding process and assisted through until they reach campus safely. Recruitment officers will keep regular contacts with new staff and even meet them at the airport (for those joining from abroad).
