Welcome to the School of Civil Engineering!
We pride ourselves as leaders in civil engineering education nation building. Teaching, research, local and international partnerships, collaboration, student exchange, professional training and community engagement are encouraged and actively pursued as it enables engineers to continuosly learn and drive sustainable, safe and resillient infrastructure developments while supporting economic growth for PNG, the region and beyond.
Our 4-years Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) program, is fully accredited under the Washington Accord, Our graduates are recognized in all Accord member countries. This accreditation affirms our commitment to conformity to standards and quality education – enabling learning and career pathways for our students, alumni’s and staff for engagement, creativity and innovation globally.
At the heart of our mission is real-world impact through integration of thousands of years of traditional knowledge, ingenuity and resillience with modern and future engineering standards and practices to create culturally respectful and sustainable solutions, we equip students with the skills, knowledge, attributes and mindset to solve the pressing engineering challenges of today and tomorrow.
The curriculum emphazies fundamental principles in structural and bridge engineering, geotechnical engineering, road and pavement design; traffic, highway and transportation engineering, construction mangement; hydrology, environment and water resources engineering.
We encourage community partnerships and ethical responsibility as central to the profession, ensuring that engineering serves the diverse needs of the people. The school invites collaboration between students, reserachers, public – private partnerships, international institutions and community leaders to connect and build strong and strategic networks that work together to improve livelihooods.
