Assistant Supervisor - Electrical
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Supervisor -Electrical within the Estates & Services department.
Assistant Supervisor -Electrical
Reporting to the Supervisor -Electrical, this person is responsible for maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, appliances, electrical lightings and electrical fittings of the university.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Repair/replace lightings, fan and general purposes outlets (GPO);
- Upkeep of all electrical fittings, power circuits and electrical appliances in the Student Halls of Residence, academic buildings and staff housing;
- Wiring of 3 phase and single-phase machines/equipment;
- Trouble shooting departmental equipment, power circuit boards (3 phase and single phase);
- In the absence of the Supervisor, supervise Electrical Contractors on campus and ensure all jobs are done according to Unitech’s required standard;
- Carry out maintenance work on faults as and when required on staff housing, academic buildings and student halls of residence;
- Attend to all after-hours calls in the absence of the supervisor;
- Attend to electrical maintenance work of the affiliated colleges of Unitech;
- Assist Supervisor with conducting daily and weekly tool box meetings with the Electrical section workforce.
- Assist Supervisor with daily and weekly reports to Maintenance Manager;
- Perform any other work-related duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Head of Estates & Services.
Qualification & Experience
- The candidate should possess a Trade qualification in Electrical/Refrigeration Mechanic from a recognized institution in the appropriate field.
- Extensive experience in building and associated industries with a minimum of 8 years of relevant trade experience and experience in similar organization would be an advantage. More so experience of at least 6 years in a similar position is required.
- Mature and able to assist and supervise highly technical jobs. Team player and able to develop and maintain good working relationship between staff, students and clients. Take initiative, motivate, organize and develop training programs.

Conditions of Service
- Base Salary: Senior Artisan – PGK22,800 – PGK27,867 per annum
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
