STUDENTS SUPPORT & FACILITIES

Matron – Female Residential Halls

Reporting directly to the Deputy Registrar, the primary role of a Matron is to be responsible for the health and well-being of the female students and the smooth running of the domestic side of school life.

Primary Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • To supervise all room allocations for all female residential halls, including postgraduate dormitories.
  • To attend to all matters concerning the adequate housing of Students and control the management of these facilities.
  • To direct the activities of Sub-Wardens of female students’ residences.
  • To supervise and support female sub-wardens in enforcing University Rules.
  • To ensure that student residences are not occupied by unauthorized persons
  • To ensure that all necessary maintenance and cleaning of students’ accommodation are speedily affected and facilities provided.
  • To provide updated reports of all USDC cases to the DR-SS&F and other relevant authorities on a timely basis.
  • To keep adequate current records of the location of female students, the equipment, and facilities provided for them.
  • To assist the Dean of Students to enforce the student rules.
  • To supervise and support female sub-wardens in enforcing University Rules.
  • To assist the Students Counsellor in providing counselling services to female students as and when required, and provide a report to the Counsellor accordingly.
  • To provide monthly activity/work reports to the DR-SS&F.
  • To attend to any other duties delegated by the Deputy Registrar (SFC)

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Social Work or Education 
  • 3 – 5 years hands on experience on a similar job.
  • The successful candidate should be a mature and compassionate leader with excellent interpersonal and listening skills, capable of remaining calm under pressure, managing emergencies effectively, and demonstrating patience, empathy, and a positive sense of humor in challenging situations

Conditions of Service

  • Assistant Registrar I – K40,781 – K49,843          DMA – K1,800 (Domestic Market Allowance)

  • Assistant Registrar  II – K46,556 – K56,902        DMA  K6,677  (Domestic Market Allowance)

(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
