Section Head's Message

Welcome to the Employee Relations, Occupational Health Safety & Environment and Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion section of The Human Resource Department. We are committed to fostering positive relationships and ensuring that our workplace is one where everyone feels respected and valued. Works diligently to maintain a safe and healthy campus, prioritizing the well-being of all staff and students. Champions equality and inclusion, ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, ability, or background, has equal opportunities and access to resources.

Employee Relations

Employee Relations focuses on fostering a positive work environment and maintaining healthy employer-employee relationships. We strive to ensure fair treatment, open communication, and conflict resolution. Our goal is to support and enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and productivity through effective policies, programs, and practices.

Occupational Health and Safety Environment

Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHSE) is dedicated to promoting a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and students. We prioritize the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses, compliance with health and safety regulations, and the promotion of environmental sustainability. Our commitment is to create a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible campus.

Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion

Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion (GEDSI) aims to foster an inclusive and equitable environment for all members of our community. We advocate for gender equality, support individuals with disabilities, and promote social inclusion. Our focus is on creating policies and practices that ensure everyone, regardless of gender, ability, or background, has equal opportunities and access to resources.

Our Policies

Our policies aim to nurture a positive and productive work environment by promoting open communication, mutual respect and fair treatment; dedication to the well-being of our employees and the sustainability of our operations; create a diverse and inclusive workplace.
These are the main policies;

Employee Code of Conduct

The Employee Code of Conduct sets the standard for ethical behavior and professional duties at PNG University of Technology (PNGUoT). It aims to promote high ethical standards, good governance, transparency, and accountability among all employees.

Key points include:

✓ Purpose: To guide conduct in line with the University’s values and support the Strategic Plan.

✓ Applicability: It applies to all employees in their official roles.

✓ Values: The University emphasizes five core values:

a) High Ethical Standards

b) Professionalism

c) Diversity and Inclusivity

d) Innovation and Initiative

e) Pride and Passion

These values underpin the obligations in the Code and its Explanatory Statement, guiding employee actions and interactions within the community.

Whistle Blower Policy

Provide a secure and confidential mechanism for employees and stakeholders to report concerns about unethical, illegal, or unsafe practices within the organization.

Harassment Policy

To ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace free from any form of harassment by providing an environment where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

Gender Equality Disability & Social Inclusion

Promoting and facilitating an inclusive working environment for all staff, student and stakeholders.
