PNGUoT Clinic

The PNGUoT Clinic was enlarged in 1982 through a gift from Bougainville Copper Limited, the clinic caters for the health needs of students, staff and the surrounding community.
In addition, it contributes in the health education field with a program of lectures and slide presentations covering, amongst other things, preventive medicine and training in preparation for possible emergencies.
All new students are required to undergo a medical examination as soon as possible after their arrival at the University. Such examinations enable the doctors and their team of staff (which include Chief Medical Officer (Doctor), an Health Extension Officer as well as a number of Nursing Sisters) to detect at an early stage, possible health problems and to take appropriate remedial actions. Many of these health problems are caused by malaria, and the clinic plays an active part in the battle against the disease – through fogging (spraying), the removal of water traps on the Campus, as well as through treatment.
The PNGUoT Clinic is a referral clinic, we provide quality health care for our patients. If a patient has a serious or complex health condition that needs advanced treatment, we refer them to a larger hospital with specialized doctors and better facilities. The clinic provides basic services 7 days a week. We have 24 staffs and there is an ambulance service in case of emergencies.
