INTERNAL VACANCY

School of Agriculture

The School offers a 4-year and 2-year programs that lead to undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees in Agriculture. The School also offers a 2-year program in flexible learning mode that leads to undergraduate degree in Agriculture and Rural Development. The School regularly graduates several research degree (MPhil and PhD) students. School hosts a biotechnology centre, a farm, and a well-equipped analytical services laboratory to support the undergraduate, postgraduate and staff research portfolios. We invite applications for the above position.

Primary Responsibilities

This is a key leadership position, so the candidate must also be able to perform effectively as a team leader, both at the School (e.g., mentoring of junior staff) and, when required, University level (including the possibility of serving as Head of School if requested by Senior Management).

Qualification & Experience

A minimum master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences is required. Relevant teaching experience, both at graduate (Masters) and undergraduate levels, and demonstrated scholarly research interest in genetics and breeding of tropical crops using both classical and contemporary biotechnological approaches. He or she must have at least two (2) years of teaching experience; has published 3 or more articles in international peer-reviewed journals, and evidence of active conference attendance as a scholarly activity.

Conditions of Service

Lecturer I/II

  • Base Salary: PGK47,060 – PGK67,702 per annum
  • Domestic Market Allowance: PGK13,639 – PGK31,585 per annum

(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
