Mechanic (Artisan/Senior Artisan)

Mechanic (Artisan/Senior Artisan) x 2
The University is seeking a reliable and experienced Mechanic (Artisan) to join its Stores & Transport Team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and servicing the University’s fleet of light engine vehicles, ensuring operational safety and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and fit tyres securely and promptly for all fleet vehicles
- Ensure tyre safety to prevent accidents
- Assist and mentor On-the-Job Trainees (OJT)
- Provide workshop services and submit operational reports as required
- Support procurement and collection of spare parts, lubricants, and accessories
- Participate in monthly stock take of workshop tools and equipment
- Comply with workshop Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Mechanic or the Stores & Transport Manager.
Qualification & Experience
- Mechanical Tradesman Certificate from a recognized institution
- Valid PNG Class 6 Driver’s License
- Defensive Driving Competency Certification
- Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical experience (3 years in similar roles an advantage)
- Proven ability to strip, rebuild, and overhaul petrol and diesel engines of various types
- Honest, reliable, and of sober habits
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computer literate with excellent employment history
Conditions of Service
- Base Salary: Artisan PGK19,966 – K24,403 per annum | Senior Artisan PGK22,800 – K27,867.
- Domestic Market Allowance (DMA): K750.00 per annum
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
