BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing strategies to generate new, sustainable revenue streams for the university. This involves redesigning existing business arms, developing new business initiatives, and establishing partnerships to enhance the university’s financial sustainability. The incumbent is expected to provide direction in driving business initiatives that are profit-oriented.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities and Delivery/Resources:
- Business Development & Partnerships (Delivery Focused):
- Conduct market research to identify viable opportunities and develop detailed business cases for new and existing ventures.
- Build, manage, and leverage relationships with private sector, government, and institutional partners to secure signed contracts and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).
- Resource Management: Manage approved budgets and resources effectively, ensuring optimal ROI for all business initiatives.
Strategic Alignment & Collaboration:
- Work with university departments to ensure business initiatives align with PNGUoT’s strategic goals.
- Prepare and present accurate business proposals and financial reports to management for informed decision-making.
Performance Monitoring & Improvement (Accountability):
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor and evaluate the financial performance and operational efficiency of all business initiatives.
- Recommend specific improvements and changes necessary for long-term sustainability and growth.
Governance, Finance & Compliance:
- Ensure all business operations adhere strictly to financial regulations and university policies.
Qualification & Experience
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Business or Management.
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years’ experience in a management capacity in a tertiary educational institution, a major commercial/industrial organisation, or at senior managerial level in government service.
Conditions of Service
- Business Development Manager, Base Salary Range: PGK71,090 – PGK86,887
- Base IMA Range: PGK96,481– PGK123,870 Per Annum
- Base DMA Range: PGK83,489– PGK107,189 Per Annum
IMA = International Market Allowance
DMA= Domestic Market Allowance
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
