Welcome to the Faculty of Natural Resources!

The academic, technical, administrative and support staff of this Faculty are pleased to welcome you to a vibrant professional community. Whether you are a new student, an academic, a visiting scholar, a research partner, or a sojourner exploring our faculty, we welcome you and encourage you to have dialogue with us over ideas of mutual interest.

The Faculty of Natural Resources currently has two schools, the School of Agriculture (SoA) and the School of Forestry (SoF), and two campuses, SoF Bumbu Campus and SoF Bulolo Campus. The faculty is dedicated to advancing knowledge and skills transfer, research and scholarly engagements, consultancy and community outreach programs, and higher degree program delivery, all for the purposes of fostering real-time solutions for sustainable use and management of the natural resources primarily in Papua New Guinea. We are also committed to addressing current issues the world faces in the spheres of climate change, biodiversity loss, and food security.

Guided by our aspiration, “Progressive Faculty for the Competitive World”, the faculty strives to equip our students and researchers with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to provide guidance towards responsible management of natural resources. We stand to be seen as critical partners at both local, regional and global contexts, addressing matters concerning resilient communities, thriving ecosystems, and sustainable development.

On a broader context as education providers, the faculty is committed to advancing the vision, mission, and progressive strategic goals of this University, espoused by the Senior Executive Management and the Council. On that note, we strive at fulfilling the endorsed graduate attributes by way of effective delivery of respective program curricula.

We invite and encourage you to explore the many academic programs, research activities, and community outreach programs we offer and/or engage in. At whatever capacity you wish to collaborate or link up with us, we believe that this interrelationship with the Faculty of Natural Resources will be meaningful and transformative.

We stand ready to journey the path of discovery, innovation and stewardship with all who come to partner with us and advance the spirit of sustainable resource development and progress.
