About Us
Brief Background & History
The Papua New Guinea Forestry College, now known as PNG University of Technology (PNGUoT) Bulolo Campus, established in 1962 is Papua New Guinea’s first tertiary institution dedicated to forestry training. As the primary field training site for the School of Forestry of the PNGUoT, it is surrounded by tree plantations and natural forests, including the Mount Susu Nature Reserve. Currently, the Bulolo campus offers a four-year Bachelor of Forest Resource Management (BFRM) degree program aimed at producing skilled forest managers for the National Forest Authority, private-sector forest industries, and government and non-government agencies.
The program provides a progressive curriculum: the first year emphasizes foundational sciences such as plant biology, chemistry, mathematics, and communication skills, along with introductory information technology training. The second year integrates practical skills with theoretical and scientific forestry knowledge. The third and fourth years focus on specialized resource management courses.
