School of Agriculture

The School offers a 4-year and 2-year programs that lead to undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees in Agriculture. The School also offers a 2-year program in flexible learning mode that leads to undergraduate degree in Agriculture and Rural Development. The School regularly graduates several research degree (MPhil and PhD) students. School hosts a biotechnology centre, a farm, and a well-equipped analytical services laboratory to support the undergraduate, postgraduate and staff research portfolios. Lecturer I in Agriculture Extension

Primary Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  1. Teaching: deliver lectures to undergraduate students on various aspects of agricultural extension, rural sociology and community development.
  2. Curriculum development: contribute to the development and review of agriculture extension curricular.
  3. Outreach extension activities: develop and deliver extension programs, working with farmers to provide information and support.
  4. Research: conduct research projects on areas related to agriculture extension, food security and sustainable development.
  5. Supervision: supervise and mentor undergraduate postgraduate research students in agriculture extension rural sociology and community development.

Qualification & Experience

A minimum master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences is required. Relevant teaching experience, both at graduate (Masters) and undergraduate levels, and demonstrated scholarly research interest in agriculture extension, rural community development and food security. He or she must have at least two (2) years of teaching experience; has published 2 or more articles in international peer-reviewed journals, and evidence of active conference attendance as a scholarly activity. He or she must have experience in extension services or working with farming communities is desirable.

Conditions of Service

  • Base Salary: PGK47, 060 – PGK67, 702 per annum.
  • Domestic Market Allowance: K13,639.00 – K31,585.00 per annum

(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
