DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ARCHITECT (AI & AUTOMATION MANAGER)
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving the university’s digital transformation by leading the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven systems to automate essential university processes. The incumbent will play a crucial role in transforming student, academic, and administrative services through innovative digital solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities and Technical Depth:
- Lead AI and Machine Learning Initiatives:
- Apply Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) techniques (e.g., deep learning, natural language processing) for student records, exam validation, room allocation, predictive analytics, and service chatbots.
- Focus on Data Science Pipeline: Implement robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and ensure data accuracy to generate reports supporting informed data-driven decision-making.
Lead Automation to Support Critical Functions:
- Design and implement enterprise-level systems to automate and improve processes across student applications, admissions, fee payments, registrations, and student services.
- Platform Integration: Develop secure, scalable platforms accessible across Registry, Bursary, HR, Academic Schools, Student Administration, Senior Management, Library, ICTS, and Security.
Data Governance and Cybersecurity:
- Build and maintain secure, centralized databases for students, HR, financial, and academic records, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
- Implement AI-powered security systems to manage data privacy, access control, and maintain compliance with data governance protocols (e.g., identity and access management, data recovery).
Capability Building & Training:
- Design and run structured training programs for junior systems programmers to enhance technical expertise in areas like cloud infrastructure and scalable application development.
- Establish a mentoring system to guide junior staff and ensure knowledge transfer within the ICTS department.
Qualification & Experience
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years’ relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in programming (Python, Java, etc.), large-scale system development (e.g., ERP integration), AI applications, and automation, preferably in higher education or large institutional digital transformation projects.
Conditions of Service
- Digital Transformation Architect, Base Salary Range: PGK95,366 – PGK 116,558
- Base IMA Range: PGK105,320 – PGK162,617 Per Annum
- Base DMA Range: PGK43,069 – PGK74,653 Per Annum
IMA = International Market Allowance
DMA= Domestic Market Allowance
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
