🎉 Congratulations to Kennioth Sausewagen (BSc Computer Science, April 2025) on launching LexPNG – PNG’s first AI legal assistant app!

We are immensely proud of Kennioth Sausewagen, a recent graduate of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology, who has turned his final-year project into a real-world innovation helping people across the country.

📱 About LexPNG:

  • A mobile application providing instant and affordable legal information to citizens without access to professional legal counsel.

  • Built using OpenAI’s GPT‑4 and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques.

  • Trained on PNG’s legal documents, including legislation and case law from PACLII.

  • Includes features such as secure user login, document uploads, and cloud storage.

  • Available via freemium subscription on Android devices.

🌍 Real Impact:

Kennioth was inspired by countless Papua New Guineans he met who lacked basic legal support. He said:

“I wanted to create a solution where everybody can get access to instant legal information … Some can’t afford a professional to give legal advice about their rights.”

Now available for public use, LexPNG is an example of student research with real, societal impact.

🚀 What’s Next?

Kennioth is actively working on improving the app, collecting feedback, and exploring opportunities for collaboration and investment to further expand LexPNG’s reach.

🎓 From University Project to National Service

Kennioth’s journey reflects the innovative and service-driven spirit fostered at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology. We celebrate his achievement and encourage our current and future students to follow in his inspiring footsteps.

Well done, Kennioth!
