Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position within the University:

Assistant Chief Security Officer (ACSO) – Re-advertised

Reporting to the Chief Security Officer (Security Manager) the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Campus Security Operations on a daily basis providing administrative and technical expertise both on and off the field. 

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that deployment is done timely
  • Guards are properly equipped with necessary resources at locations/sites
  • Conduct timely/scheduled spot checks
  • Conduct parades and carefully disseminate instructions/information to guards on a daily basis
  • Maintain Assets Registry and provide defect reports as and when they occur
  • Maintain guard discipline including upholding uniform policies and breathalyzing personnel before posting
  • Investigate incidents and submit reports to relevant authorities including University management, Police, etc.
  • Fostering and maintaining strong working relationship with the Lae Metropolitan Police Command 
  • Conduct security meetings with supervisors and create awareness to all stakeholders.
  • Provide daily/weekly operational report to management or as and when required
  • Work with the Chairman of the Security Committee and the Security Manager to ensure meetings of the Committee are held on the dates stipulated on the University Almanac

Qualification & Experience

The successful candidate should have:

      • Grade 12 certificate/A Diploma/Degree in HRM, Communications, or Management Studies
      • Police/Military/CIS background: Police Background preferred
      • At least 5 years in a multi-national or well-established organization
      • Able to provide timely reports of occurrences as and when required
      • Adequate computer skills and well versed with all MSO applications
      • Portray Leadership attributes to be able to maintain command and control of the Security Force.

Conditions of Service

  • Base Salary: PGK40,781 – PGK56,902 per annum
  • Domestic Market Allowance: PGK1,800 – PGK10,683

(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
