Our Facilities
Laboratories
The Department’s laboratories have been updated with new equipment with a large range of teaching, research, and test equipment in the fields of heat engines and vehicle technology, engineering materials science, applied dynamics and machine elements, heat transfer and combustion, refrigeration and air conditioning, flexible manufacturing, metrology, solar energy, fluid power, and fluid flow, and non-destructive testing (NDT). In addition, there are extensive facilities for teaching workshop technology, and for the manufacture of specialized equipment, including both vertical and horizontal CNC machine centers, and an EDM machine. CAD (computer-aided design) facilities are also available.

Lathe Machine
A lathe is a machine tool that rotates a workpiece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation, facing, threading and turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about that axis.

Surface Grinding Machine
Applications include: Precision grinding of flat surfaces on materials like steel, aluminum and other metals; Creation of smooth and accurate finishes on workpieces used in various industrial applications; Production of components with tight tolerances, critical in industries such as aerospace and automotive manufacturing.

Shaper Machine
Shaping machine is a machine designed for giving desired shapes to the surfaces that may be horizontal, vertical and flat. A shaping tool is used to cut in curves, different angles, and many other shapes. A disc is responsible for the tool rotation which results in the forward and backward movement.

Milling Machine
A milling machine is an industrial machine tool that creates a part by removing material from a stationary workpiece with rotary cutting tools. A milling machine is the main type of equipment used for milling, a subtractive manufacturing process, that can be controlled manually or with Computer Numerical Control (CNC).

Drilling Machine
Drills are commonly used in woodworking, metalworking, construction, machine tool fabrication, construction and utility projects. Specially designed versions are made for miniature applications.

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)
Electrical discharge machining, a non-conventional method of precise machining that utilizes thermal energy, rather than mechanical force, to eliminate material from a work piece. It is a very capable process for cutting intricate forms in tough materials which involves immersing both an electrode and a workpiece in dielectric fluid. An electrical current passes through the work piece and electrode, generating small plasma regions that rapidly heat and vaporize the material.
